We begin processing the application immediately upon receipt. We may be able to give a provisional response to the applicant. The final acceptance and matriculation into medical school occurs within approximately 3-5 weeks once all materials (including official transcripts) are received.
Application Checklist:
-Application for Admission Form (including Personal Statement)
-Application and Background Check Fee: $200 US dollars, one time, nonrefundable (check or money order is accepted)
-MCAT and any other comparable test scores (scores must be sent via an official transcript.)
-Official Transcripts from each college, university, or professional school attended
-Three Letters of Recommendation.
Two letters must be academic recommendations from instructors from whom the applicant has taken courses. Letters should address the following points about the applicant: strengths and weaknesses including maturity level, academic achievements, and motivation for pursuing a degree in medicine.
The final letter may be a work, volunteer, or academic recommendation.
-Background Check Authorization Form
-Photocopy of Birth Certificate
-Photocopy of Social Security Card
After Acceptance (all necessary forms will be included in your acceptance packet):
-Proof of Immunization Form: Hepatitis A and B series; Measles, Mumps, and Rubella; Polio; Tetanus and Diphtheria; Tuberculosis Skin Test or Chest x-ray; Typhoid; and Varicella. Please note that although not required, students who anticipate spending an extensive amount of time in rural areas should consider getting a rabies vaccine.
-Proof of Health Insurance (Proof of current coverage will be requested every trimester.)
-Photocopy of Current Passport and Four Passport Photos
-Confirmation of Acceptance Form (completed and signed)
-First Trimester Fees (All fees are in US dollars. Unless otherwise indicated, all fees must be paid in full before the first day of the trimester):
- $1,500 Matriculation Fee-one time, nonrefundable
- $5,000 Trimester Tuition Fee (Tuition is fully refundable within the first 7 days of the trimester)
- $350 Yearly Lab Fee
- Lab Coat Fee $70.( Subject to change. May be paid upon arrival in Belize.)
- Stethoscope Fee (Approx. $110. Subject to change. Students are required to obtain before arrival in Belize.)
Upon Arrival in
-Student Permit (You will have 30 days after arrival to obtain this document. Information on how to obtain the permit will be included in your acceptance packet.)
